MUSCAT — The Muscat Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (formed under the sponsorship of College of Banking and Financial Studies) is organising a seminar on ‘Emotional Intelligence’ on May 11 at the CBFS Auditorium in Bausher.
In continuing with its tradition and legacy, the Muscat Chapter of ICAI has identified a promising and reputed CEO Coach from Mumbai, India to address the members. His name is Srinivasan Iyer
(pictured) and he is the CEO of MPower Excellence.
Iyer has impeccable credentials and is consultant to several well known companies besides travelling to various parts of India and overseas for guest lectures, training, and so on. A prolific speaker, he lays great emphasis on HR development, appropriate talent acquisitions, training and development.
According to Iyer, the world has so far focused a lot on logical reasoning, math skills, spatial skills, understanding analogies, verbal skills, and so on.
However, while IQ can predict to a significant degree the academic performance and to some extent the professional and personal success one needs something more than just IQ to succeed in life.
Research has indicated that quite a few people with fabulous IQ scores are doing poorly in life. Why? IQ accounts for only 25 per cent of success in career. Of the competencies needed for success, 75 per cent are emotional.
Emotional Intelligence is increasingly relevant to organisational development and developing people, because the IQ principles provide a new way to understand and assess people’s behaviours, management styles, attitudes, interpersonal skills, and potential. Srinivasan Iyer would articulate on what is Emotional Intelligence and how to manage our emotions and effectively deal with the emotions of others.
Anil Wadhwa, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, will be the Chief Guest for the event and Dr Ashraf Nabhani, the Dean of College of Banking and Financial Studies will be the guest of honour. The session, open to members of the Muscat Chapter, is expected to be yet another achievement in providing continuing professional education to its members.
